Rubicon by Ken
Rubicon
He made his way down the hall carefully, ever alert for the telltale swishing of robes. There it was, up ahead. He ducked down a side passage. There was brief glimpse of blue as the figure passed by. Still safe.
Would they find out, he wondered? Would they find the pillow under his blankets, come running? He hoped to any kind of god they wouldn’t. He was getting out of here, one way or another.

Writing Contests!
Hey guys! I've been looking into some writing/publishing contests so I figured I'd share what I found with you all here, in case anyone is interested. Some of them pay well, others don't, but I'm more interested in winning a contest and getting something published than money (although it sure is a nice bonus). Also keep in mind that most of these contests do have some kind of submission fee!
Feel free to add to this list if you know of any upcoming contests! And be sure to let us know if you enter a contest so we can root for you!

Reinvention - Amanda A. Arcieri
The night wind gently treads
O'er the meadow's darkened mist;
A silver sphere rises
In the northern sky amidst
A glinting cosmic wonder
Of starlight aura glow,
Glistening--e'er whimsically--
Upon a sheet of powder snow;
As each lies in wait
For that single moment, true,
In melancholic solitude:
O'er the meadow's darkened mist;
A silver sphere rises
In the northern sky amidst
A glinting cosmic wonder
Of starlight aura glow,
Glistening--e'er whimsically--
Upon a sheet of powder snow;
As each lies in wait
For that single moment, true,
In melancholic solitude:
The Rite of Beginnings Anew.

The Dragon and the Spire by Ken
A rather surreal mood piece. Dreams have always fascinated me, by virtue of the fact that anything can happen when your asleep. This story is an attempt to capture the proper feel.
